In Our Store

We have a few new displays in the store from recent trade shows. Check out these items for your home and animals.

  • Jones’ Dog TreatsThese delicious treats range from hooves, beef sticks, chicken feet, and flavored bones. Cost is $2.00/Each. Grab one of each to see what your dog likes!
  • Wasp Traps These store staples have been around for a few years. This is a great invention to help with carpenter bees and mud daubers. People typically hang them in barns and storage rooms. Come in and stock up for $9.30/Each.

Ranger Gate has informed us that they will be making some changes to the style and construction of their gates. These changes result in different tubing being used along with square corners compared to the original rounded corners. The inventory that we have in stock is the last of the rounded corners. If you are trying to finish a project and would like all your gates to match, stop in and stock up.

Make sure and check the section “What’s coming up in our area” for all the information about Memorial Day. Reminder that we are closed in observance of the holiday.

In the Yard

The recent rains have excited everyone about getting out and going in the yard. Here are some options to make them look their best.

In the Pasture

  • Fertilizer prices continue to move around and challenge many people’s pocketbooks. We hope that the prices will adjust soon. Please make sure and contact the store for updated pricing.
  • Our fertilizer and spray business is moving well. If you are still interested in us completing a job for you, please give us a call.
  • Many customers have issues with Silverleaf Nightshade. The ideal time to treat them is when they have a purple flower on them. We are in a window to make that application. If you are interested in spraying them, use 20oz Duracor or 1 Quart of Grazon Next per acre. If you have any other pester weeds, please give us a call and we will get you the right treatment plan.
  • The weather is still decent to get out and spray Mesquite and Huisache plants using a basal treatment. If you are looking to do that make sure and use 8oz Remedy and 120oz Diesel to make a full gallon mixture. If you need a sprayer to help you achieve this goal, stop in, and see us.
  • We normally recommend that you increase the chemical rate used on our pasture at the end of May. Consider the rate change on the products below:
    • Grazon Next – 24oz Up To 1 Quart
    • Duracor – 16oz Up To 20oz
    • Chaparral – 2oz Up To 3.3oz
  • We are also in the time to consider an application of Herbicide to kill Dewberry Vines If you have this issue, consider an application of Chapparal Herbicide to kill the plants. If you are spot spraying them, use 6.6 OZ per 100 Gallons of water plus surfactant. If you are making a broadcast application, use 3.3 OZ per acre plus surfactant. We should be making this application, right after the fruit is no longer present on the plants. You can add 1 Quart of Tordon per acre if you have a license to increase the activity.

In the Animal Pen

  • Many customers have started using Purina Mineral Tubs over the year to increase the health of their cattle herd. If you are using them or have been on the fence, we have a deal for you. Purina Wind & Rain Mineral Tub (No Fly Control) and Purina Wind & Rain Mineral Tub (With Fly Control) are being discounted by $10.00/225LB Tub for the entire month.
  • We are also going to also reduce the price on the 8:8 Mineral Block by $3.00 Each for the entire month. If you have some cattle in pens or only a few head, use these to make sure your cattle’s nutrition is on track.

In the Great Outdoors

  • I mentioned over the last few months spring food plot seeds. I figured since we have received some rain it would be good to list them here.

    • Buck Buffet = $45.14/20LB Bag = Contains iron and clay peas, red ripper cow peas, soybeans, lab lab, perodovic sunflowers, and grain sorghum. (1 bag plants 1.5 acres).
