August 2023 Newsletter

In Our Store

We have shuffled a few things around in our store to accommodate more feed and monthly specials displays. With those changes, we also purchased a new vaccine cooler, and we are getting a drink machine back in the store. We are taking steps to refresh the store and make everything more accessible to our customers.

  • We have decided on Friday, November 17, 2023, for our 75th Anniversary Celebration. During this day we will have a variety of things planned. We will release more information as we get closer to the event. I would ask if any of you have old pictures or interesting memorabilia from years past, let us know so we can include them in the celebration.
  • We have restocked our selection of Kuma Chairs in the store. We have added a few new styles, one for kids, and one for you and your loved one to snuggle together. Come check them out!!
  • The local 4H Livestock Judging Team is selling raffle tickets in our store to raise money for their national competition. Stop in and purchase these tickets for $5.00 each or (5) for $20.00.
  • We will have our Annual Pallet of Corn Sale on Saturday, August 26, 2023. Our goal is to take advantage of the field corn prices to get the best deal. We will post the price in the store a few weeks prior to the event and notify everyone on Facebook.
  • Farmers and Ranchers have seen their way of life consistently come under regulation and pressure. There will be a vote on November 7, 2023, to protect the Right to Farm and Ranch in Texas. This bill will protect all farmers and ranchers no matter how big or small, ensure Texans have safe and affordable food, and protect the environment and animal welfare.  I will continue to run this as a reminder until the election month.

In the Yard

It seems like every year in this section we share information about water hoses and sprinklers. This year will be no different, after all it is August in Texas. Everything is normally brown and crispy by this point. Here are a few items that we have in store to help with that.

Flexogen 50Ft Water Hoses $29.45/Each

Flexogen 100Ft Water Hoses $61.95/Each

Orbit Cyclone Sprinklers $8.75/Each

Osculating Sprinkler $16.90/Each

– Poppy Sprinkler $21.90/Each

In the Pasture

Little rain has left our pastures looking poor. The next best thing to do is to get a fall game plan into place. Whether that is fall grass planting, Ag Lime treatments, fall brush spraying, or applying potash or phosphate, now is the time to start thinking about it.

In the Animal Pen

  • This month we will have a special on our Purina Creep Pellets. The 14% Creep pellets are a great feed to have in your portfolio if you are trying to grow or put weight on your calves. This month we will take off $1.00/Bag.
  • With the weather getting drier, flies will continue to persist. Purina Wind & Rain 225# Mineral Tubs with Altosid are the right supplement needed at this time while providing some fly control for your herd. This month we will take off $5.00/Tub.

In the Great Outdoors

  • Corn prices are in the range to get hunters and casual feeders excited. We will have field corn pricing for most of this month.
  • We will have our annual pallet of corn sale on Saturday, August 26, 2023. We will post the price in the store a few weeks prior to the event and notify everyone on Facebook. We will not allow partial pallets or pick up at a later date. We will only load those customers who are in the door by 12:00 PM. We will not offer any POD’s or orders on hold for that day. You will need to show up and pick up the corn on this day. There will be 40 bags/pallet. We will have a good amount of corn made for that day, but it will be first come, first serve while it lasts. Maximum of 3 pallets per customer.
  • Next month we will have our “Buy a Feeder, Get the Corn for Free” for the full month. Be on the lookout for this great deal.
  • We are ordering in some new deer blinds and should see them within the next few weeks.
