In Our Store
- We will have our Annual Pallet of Corn Sale on Saturday, August 29, 2026. Our goal is to take advantage of the field corn prices to get the best deal. We will post the price in the store a few weeks prior to the event and notify everyone on Facebook. Look in the “In The Great Outdoors” section for more details.
- It is the time of year when we will see more festivals and picnics. Look at our “What is coming up in our area” section for some fun times and delicious food. We are selling meal and raffle tickets in the store for most of these events.
- Vetericyn Navel Care Spray is now available for all animal species. This is a great product to use for prevention of screwworm infections in newborn animals. We have these available for $12.15/Each.
In the Yard
It seems like the yards are holding their own in the recent heat waves. They are sure to start drying up and needing a little love. Last month we highlighted some water hoses to help with the upcoming dryness, now we will share some sprinklers.
- Orbit Cyclone Sprinkler = $11.15/Each
- Poppy Sprinkler = $22.00/Each
- Oscilating Sprinkler = $19.60/Each
In the Pasture
- Last month we shared information on the Mealybugs and possible solutions to this ongoing problem. It seems like at this point more people have them than those who do not. If you make a first application, make sure and do the second one. It is also best to make the second application when the grass is 6-12” in height and 14-21 days after the first application. Listed below are some products that can be used to treat them.
- Sefina (10oz)/Acre = This is the ONLY product approved for range and pasture application. Cost for the 10oz rate is $34.40/Acre plus application and surfactant.
- Centric (3oz)/Acre = This product is not approved for range and pasture. This is ONLY a recommendation. Cost for the 3oz rate is $21.03/Acre (Chemical Only).
- Advise 4 (8oz)/Acre = This product is not approved for range and pasture. This is ONLY a recommendation. Cost for the 8oz rate is $5.52/Acre (Chemical Only).
- It is time to start thinking about the fall brush spraying season. This will be the time of year to spray Huisache and Rosehedge. If you need to spray Blackbrush, that is a late summer early fall application. Here are a few options and pricing:
- Huisache = $46.40/Acre (1 Quart of Grazon Next/1 Quart Tordon) includes application
- Huisache = $35.16/Acre (1.5 Quarts of Grazon Next) includes application
- Rosehedge = $57.02/Acre (3.3 oz Chaparral/1 Quart Tordon) includes application
- Blackbrush = $66.72/Acre (28oz Sendero/1 Quart Tordon) includes application
- It is the time of year to start thinking about fall grazing seeds. We are scheduling shipments of TAM 411 Oats, Nelson Ryegrass, and Gulf Ryegrass. If you have a need for seed, call and get on our list so we can make sure and have some available. We will share pricing when we have it available.
In the Animal Pen
We continually try to share some feeds that are popular and timely to our customers. If you find yourself owning a horse or cattle. We have a deal for you.
- Purina Impact 12-6 Textured Horse Feed is staple of our store. This consistent feed is great for any working horse. For the month of August, we will discount each bag by $3.00/Bag.
- Purina Cottonseed Cubes are good to have in your toolbox for a sick cow or one that you are trying to pep up. We have some older inventory that we would like to move. This month, we will discount each bag by $2.00.
In the Great Outdoors
- We will have our annual pallet of corn sale on Saturday, August 29, 2026. We will post the price in the store a few weeks prior to the event and notify everyone on Facebook. We will not allow partial pallets or pick up later. We will only load those customers who are in the door by 12:00 PM. We will not offer any POD’s or orders on hold for that day. You will need to show up and pick up the corn on this day. There will be 40 bags/pallet. We will have a good amount of corn made for that day, but it will be first come, first serve while it lasts. Maximum of 3 pallets per customer.
- Next month we will have our “Buy a Feeder, Get the Corn for Free” for the full month. Be on the lookout for this great deal.
What is coming up in our area?
-August 7-8, 2026 – 8:00 PM = Lester Meier Rodeo = Cuero City Park. Tickets will be sold at the gate. For more information www.lmrodeo.com or call the county extension office at 361-275-0816.
-August 8, 2026- 6:00 PM – Central DeWitt Wildlife Management Association Annual Member Meeting = Cuero VFW Hall = This member banquet will provide information on any changes with the association and hunting regulations. A catered meal will be provided. Please RSVP to the event by emailing [email protected] so they can get a number for the meal.
-August 29, 2026 – PALLET OF CORN DAY SALE @ DeWITT COUNTY PRODUCERS -Starts at 7:30 AM.
-September 6, 2026 – Annual Jamaica = Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church – Cuero, TX = Event includes a BBQ Chicken Dinner, live auction, cake walk, street dance, and many games and tournaments. For more information, call Michael Ruiz (361) 541-9730.
-September 7, 2026 = CLOSED FOR LABOR DAY. We will reopen Tuesday, September 8, 2026.
-September 13, 2026 – Holy Cross Catholic Church Festival= Yorktown Community Hall = A meal of Famous Homemade Polish Sausage and BBQ Shoulder Clod with trimmings for $15.00 will start at 10:30 AM and will be followed by a live auction starting at 1:00 PM. Event includes a raffle, cake walk, country store, and musical entertainment. For more information, please contact 361-564-2893.
–September 20, 2026 -11:00 AM -1:00 PM – Lindenau Rifle Club & Hall Annual Sausage Dinner = Lindenau, TX = PRESALE PLATES TO GO ONLY for $15.00 each. Sausage, German Potatoes, Stuffed Cabbage, and Pinto Beans will be served. Fresh Sausage by the Pound can be pre-ordered, while supply lasts, by calling Curtis Koenig at 361-564-8148. Drive Thru To Go Plates will be served at the eating stand and Fresh Sausage will be picked up at the dance hall from 11 am – 1 pm. Tickets can be purchased at Security Storage, 115 E. S.
