December 2023 Newsletter
In Our Store
- We had a great 75th Anniversary Celebration last month. The event was well attended and enjoyed by many who stopped by. We would like to thank each of you who came to celebrate.
- The end of December will bring the need for customers with Ag & Timber Exemption Cards to share your updated card. You can mail in a copy of the card or stop in the store and we can make a copy. If you do not provide us with an updated card, we will be unable to take the tax off your purchases.
- If you are looking for a unique and neat idea for Christmas, look at the Kuma Outdoor Chairs that we have in the store. We have a few assorted styles and colors that are sure to make any outdoor enthusiast happy.
- Now is the best time to start looking at your brooder lamps and bulb needs. As the colder weather approaches, they become harder to keep in stock. Stop in and get what you need.
- Now is also a suitable time to get Freeze Misers. Place this automatic tool on your faucets, and it starts dripping when the temperature outside gets below 32 Degrees. We have them for $30.55/Each.
- We have a fresh batch of Pecans from Mark Vavrusa. They are $13.00/2.5LBS and are sure to keep you occupied and your stomach happy.
- If you would like to prepay for some items that you frequently use or need for 2024, we will happily take your money. We may not be able to hold the price, but it will be there as a prepayment.
- Cuero Chamber of Commerce Gun Raffle Calendars will be available soon. The cost is $125.00 each and you can win a gun each week for the full year. You can purchase them at the Cuero Chamber of Commerce office, or we should have some in our store within a few weeks.
- We have a new supply of full-size calendars and stickem calendars in stock to get you on track for the New Year.
- This calendar year provides some funky dates that we will be closed toward the end of the month. Please make sure and look over the calendar toward the end of the newsletter for those dates.
In the Yard
- This cooler weather will bring the presence of winter grass and winter weeds. Now is a suitable time to start treating winter weeds with a herbicide. The best options to use are Fertilome Weed Free Zone: $47.90/QT and Bonide Weed Beater Ultra: $24.55/Pint.
In the Pasture
- Many of the weed control methods that apply in our yards will also apply in our pastures. If you are looking to control winter flowers and thistles, consider an application of 2-4-D at the rate of 1 QT/Acre. If you have clover in these areas and would like to keep it, consider an application of Duracor at the rate of 16oz/Acre.

Manager’s Words
Every year brings its own challenges and rewards. This year we were blessed with rain early, followed by a lengthy period of dry weather. Here we are again in a favorable pattern for wetter weather. Despite those trials, we have a lot to be thankful for. We celebrated 75 years of being in business and have made improvements that will have benefits for many years to come. We would like to wish each of you a Merry Christmas and a prosperous New Year. If we can help you with your property needs and improvements, please let us know.
Thank you for your business,
