In Our Store

We have not had much chilly weather to get excited about. When that time comes, here are a few things that will be helpful and beneficial to have on hand.

  • Freeze Misers are an excellent product to put on unused faucets to keep them from freezing. People have also started putting them on their water trough floats with a “Y”. This allows for your float to continue working and a consistent flow of water to prevent freezing. Stock up on this useful product for $30.55/Each.
  • Pipe insulation is an important item to have on hand as well. We carry assorted sizes to cover the pipes around your home and properties.

In the Yard

  • This is a suitable time to look at cool season herbicides again and start spraying your thistles and clovers while they are young and tender. The products to use again are Fertilome Weed Free Zone: $47.90/QT and Bonide Weed Beater Ultra: $24.55/Pint. If the grass in your yard and the areas you want to treat is dormant, you can use 2-4-D as well. Please make sure that you are careful with the 2-4-D since it can burn yard grass at a higher concentration.
  • This will be a suitable time to get the wheels moving on preemergent granules and liquids. If you want to apply a granule look at Barricade $27.15/ 50LB Bag (3#/1000 SQ FT), Dimension $34.90/ 35# Bag (3.5#/1000 SQ FT), and Balan 2.5 G $37.10/40# Bag (3#/1000 SQ FT). For liquid grass burr and crabgrass preemergent Ike’s Sandbur and Crabgrass Preventer $40.30/Each is a sprayable pre-emergent for yards. This liquid will cover up to 29,000 square feet.

In the Pasture

It looks like things are progressing faster than normal this year due to the warmer winter. Here are recommendations and things to look out for:

  • The thistles are at their rosette stage and should be sprayed at this time. The best recommendation for the money is 1Qt of 2-4-D/Acre. If we make the application for you, pricing will be $15.38/Acre. As they continue to grow, they will be harder to kill. Go outside and see what they look like at your place. Pricing is on current inventory and is subject to change.
  • Preemergent herbicide will be necessary earlier this year due to the warmer weather. The recommendation is 3 OZ of Rezilon per acre. If we make the application for you, pricing will be $43.96/Acre. The best recommendation is to have it out by the middle of January. This is the best product for controlling grass burrs but will influence other plants as well. Pricing is on current inventory and is subject to change.
  • Now is the time to get a soil sample complete for your pasture and fields. This sample can tell what you need to do in the next few months for a successful Spring. It can tell you what type and blend of fertilizer you need and if you need a lime application as well. Bring those samples to the store and we will send them off.

In the Animal Pen

  • Since we are in a time with little forage available for our cattle, look at supplementing their diet with tubs or liquid feed. If you have the liquid feeders already, consider 33-1-3 Westway Liquid Feed $0.20/LB or 32-10 Purina Accuration Liquid Feed $0.28/LB. We also sell the feeders if you would like to start that program.

In the Great Outdoors

  • Now is a suitable time to start improving your deer herd health by having Purina Antlermax 20% Deer Feed available. As the deer start developing babies and shedding horns, the nutrients needed for growth and development will be more crucial. We will take off $2.00/Bag for the entire month or until we complete our current contract.

Manager’s Words
We are refreshed and ready for the year. We would like to thank each of you for being patient with our closed days around the holidays. It was the much-needed reset and refresh for our employees. As in years past, I would like to share things that will complete this year for the business. These changes will improve our interaction and service to our customers

  1. We have purchased a new truck to expand our weed and brush spraying capacity.
  2. We are upgrading one of our dry fertilizer trucks to a more dependable truck.
  3. We will decide on how to change or expand our feed mill.
  4. We will continue to update technology in our store for better communication and interaction.

Thank you for your business,
