- We have our new website up and running. This interactive website initially directs you to sign up to receive this monthly newsletter by email. The website also tells the story of the association including its beginning and growth. This can be a great resource to understand our products and services offered. - The DeWitt County Crops Tour is coming up. This annual event will be held on Tuesday, June 13, 2023. The event provides updates on chemicals, farming changes, and new farming strategies. The event starts at 3:00PM at Gruenau Hall and will provide a BBQ Meal at the end of the tour. The event will provide 3 CEU credits for license holders. Please RSVP with the DeWitt County Extension Office at 361-275-0816.
- We have emptied our Clearance Isle Section. These are items that we will never sell. Within the next few weeks, we will set all the items out and have them available for you to look through.

In the Yard
- Stay outside for any length of time and you are sure to find a few mosquitos buzzing around you. Here are a few options to help you survive them:
- Mosquito Beater -Fog RX Insect Fogger $74.80/Each is designed to fog the areas that you relax or spend time around. This is great for patios, yards, gardens, and pool areas. (You will also need to purchase a propane bottle and the liquid for the fog)
- Cutter Backyard Bug Control $13.55/Each is designed to allow you to spray to control mosquitos, fleas, and ticks. This RTU hose end sprayer is designed to cover about 5,000 sq ft.
- Mosquito Pro RTU Yard Spray $17.30/Each is great for killing pest on contact and breaking their lifecycle for up to 60 days.
- Cutter Backyard Bug Control $8.00/Each is a good tool for spraying small areas for mosquitos and other insects.
- Cutter Backwoods Insect Repellent $9.30/Each is sweat resistant and repels mosquitos for up to 10 hours.
- Repel Insect Repellent $7.70/Each has 25% more Deet to help repel mosquitos along with chiggers and fleas.
- We have a new product in store for the control of sandburs and crabgrass. Ike’s Sandbur and Crabgrass Preventer $40.30/Each is designed to be a sprayable pre-emergent for yards. This liquid will cover up to 29,000 square feet. Now is a good time to make that application if you normally have grass burrs in your yard.
In the Pasture
- It is the time of year where we start to recommend a full quart of chemicals to provide the best knock down and residual for future weed growth. If you are using Grazon Next the cost with application will be $24.05/Acre. If you choose to use Grazon P+D the cost will be $19.77/Acre. If the plants are still actively growing, you should still be able to kill them.
- If you have a need to get your mesquite sprayed, we are getting close to that window of application. The chemical combination that we recommend the most is 28oz Sendero, 8oz Remedy, Surfactant $50.12/Acre (Includes Application). If you need us to come look at your brush, give us a call.
- If you made the early season application of Rezilon for grass burr control, now is the time to make that second application. The best situation is after a hay cutting or when the grass is grazed short. The rate of application again is (3oz/Acre) $44.10/Acre including application.
In the Animal Pen
- A popular horse feed for our customers is True Choice Textured Horse Feed. This 12% Protein/3% Fat feed is a great option for an everyday or pasture horse. For the month of June, we will take off $1.50/Bag.
- Purina Game Fish Chow is a great option for the fish in your ponds. This multi-size fish food is designed to feed all species in your pond. Come and get enough to fill your fish feeders. For the month of June, we will take off $3.00/50LB Bag.
- Purina Precon B-30 is a good option if you are still weaning calves or pulling them off the momma. This highly palatable feed is good for all ages of cattle. This month we will take $2.00/Bag off.

Things are still moving and shaking here. It has been a very busy spring and looks like it will be a busy summer. We have looked at a lot of customers’ places for brush spraying. I would recommend keeping an eye on your mesquite and huisache. They should be in good shape for spraying this year.
